Greta Thunberg in Davos: Our House is Still On Fire

At this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos, leaders ignored climate activists' demands. Thunberg, who appeared on two panels at the forum, has called for an immediate end to investments in fossil fuel exploration, fossil fuel subsidies and for investors to ditch fossil fuel assets. But while many delegates spoke about the importance of climate issues, actual action was harder to find.

A 2019 study shows that in the years since the Paris climate agreement, banks have paid $1.9 trillion to finance fossil fuels. The good news is, endowments and portfolios worth more than $11T have begun divesting their fossil fuel stocks.

Climate Resolve’s new report, alongside an extensive online matrix, assesses how over 200 municipalities within SCE services territory are adopting plans and policies to protect their jurisdictions agains climate threats. It also features interviews with local stakeholders who identified their own climate planning issues. It also offers recommendations for state agencies, industry, and/or philanthropy to a address issues found in the research.
